Dead wooding is one of the most common tree pruning practices. It involves the removal of deadwood, diseased areas, broken and dangerous branches from within the tree crown whilst ensuring the rest of the tree is not damaged.

Without removing the deadwood the tree will become an unsafe environment, a health and safety risk and will also look unhealthy.

Professional tree maintenance techniques are used to drastically reduce the size of your tree that has outgrown its setting, whilst encouraging natural growth.

This process involves the removal of all branch limbs back to the main stem, in which the tree is allowed to regrow. Wherever possible we encourage crown reduction/ thinning instead.

Removing the branch density of the tree crown such as touching branches and smaller branches from the crown to a maximum of 25% of the overall body, whilst maintaining the shape of the tree. The minimum amount of branches possible are removed to achieve the aim of leaving the tree looking natural.

Crown thinning will increase light levels and reduce shading and wind resistance.

This is the process of removing particular branches from the lower section of the tree to increase the height of the crown.

We do this to remove obstacles or obstructions and it also provides clearance under the tree without affecting the overall shape and size of the crown.

Reduction

Reducing the overall size of the tree crown by removing the upper limbs and branches from the tips to suitable branch growth points.

This process is determined by the tree species, the structural integrity of the tree and location but to avoid stress to the tree, the maximum recommended reduction is no more than 25%.

A good reduction in the crown will leave the tree looking healthier and as natural as possible, whilst allowing more light into your garden.
